Have you read our FAQ's below?
What is the best class to start with as a beginner?
Our Intro to gymnastics strength training class is your best place to begin. This class is specifically for first timers and offers explanations of basic exercises, body positions and common terminology all while taking you through a light training session. Our Fundamentals, Stretch or Prehab Classes are also great starting points. Please feel free to chat to one of our friendly coaches following your first session about which classes would be best to achieve your goals.
How fit do I need to be?
The majority of our classes are suitable for beginners as well as those more experienced. We use a progression system, so we are easily able to scale up and down the difficulty of any exercise to suit individual ability levels. No previous training is required to attend.
I’m not flexible, will I be able to do anything? You do not need to be flexible to start, but you do need to start to become flexible.
Many of us did not start gymnastics strength training with adequate flexibility. It is something that is acquired over time with consistent practice and a lot of patience!
How long will it take for me to get flexible?
Before we answer this question, have a quick think about how long it has taken you to become inflexible.
There is no time frame we can give you to estimate how long it will take to see vast improvements, however we can say that you will be feeling your movement quality improves within weeks of consistent training. There are no shortcuts, be prepared to be in it for the long haul.
Which classes can I attend?
As a beginner you are welcome to attend our Fundamentals, Foundations, Handstand, Prehab and Stretch classes. Our more advanced classes, including Rings require some pre-requisites to be met prior to attending. Click on the class descriptions on our Timetable for more.
Do you offer Personal Training?
Yes, we offer 1 on 1 sessions as well as small group sessions. Please visit our Pricing Page for more information.
What should I wear? Do I need to bring anything?
We recommend wearing your normal active wear. Make sure it is non restrictive and something you would be comfortable in while going upside down. No footwear is worn during classes, just bare feet or socks.
Please bring along a water bottle and a sweat towel.
Storage for personal belongings in the gym is limited, so please try to keep your baggage to a minimum.
Is there an age limit?
The minimum age of a participant in our classes is 18. There is no maximum age... our most senior client is 73 years young!
We do offer a Youth Program during the school term & school holidays for children aged 12-17. For more information please visit our Youth Page located in Services.
Can I participate in your Advanced classes?
The minimum time period before attempting the prerequiste testing for our advanced classes (Foundations 2, Handstand 2 and Rings 2), is 6 months. We also require students to have completed a minimum of 40 coached hours at Falsegrip. This time period allows your joints and connective tissue to be adequately prepared for the rigours of more advanced gymnastics strength work.
